RECOGNITION

Turkmenistan: check the list before you enrol

Uni Campus TürkiyeUpdated 3 min read

A university’s recognition in Türkiye is not a guarantee that its qualification will be recognised in Turkmenistan. Check the route applicable to the exact institution, programme, mode of study and entry year before making a non-refundable commitment.

Use the ministry’s current recognition resources

The Ministry of Education’s site publishes recognition guidance alongside international-ranking references, including 2026 material. A ranking entry alone is not a recognition decision for your diploma. Ask the ministry to confirm the exact institution and programme, and which rule and list version apply to your study-start year; do not assume that a ranked Turkish university is approved for your intended qualification.

What this means in practice

Send the ministry the exact university and campus, programme title, degree level, planned entry year and attendance mode. Ask whether the qualification is eligible for assessment and which conditions or exceptions apply. If the answer is negative, reconsider the option before paying. If it is unclear, obtain clarification rather than treating a ranking, an agency promise or another graduate’s result as approval.

Nostrification is a separate step after graduation

The ministry’s published checklist includes educational records and supporting evidence, with requirements varying by application route. Prepare the diploma and transcript, required Turkmen translations, earlier qualifications where relevant, and an archive certificate showing study dates and mode when requested. Confirm authentication and any examination or additional-training requirement for your field. Law graduates should ask the competent authority which current examination or additional-training conditions apply to their specific qualification.

Keep the decision evidence

Save the dated guidance and correspondence used to choose the programme, together with your admission and study records. These help explain your circumstances in a later assessment, but they do not replace the final decision. If an important condition remains unresolved, compare alternatives before committing.

A FEW MORE ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Does the list change?

Official resources are updated. Check which version applies to your study-start year; an older list may be relevant to an older cohort, while a new list is not automatically the rule for everyone.

What if I only want to work outside Turkmenistan?

Check the destination where you actually plan to use the qualification, and consider Turkmenistan separately if returning is a realistic option. Each destination’s recognition and professional requirements need their own assessment.

Can MEC Education tell me if my university is on the list?

We can help you find and read the current list, and we will tell you honestly what it says. We cannot confirm it on the Ministry’s behalf, and you should not rely on us or on anyone else instead of the Ministry’s own answer. Ask them directly and keep the reply.
