PROCESS

The application year, month by month

Uni Campus TürkiyeUpdated 4 min read

Use the month ranges below as a planning example for an autumn intake, not as official deadlines. Create your own calendar from the universities, examination provider and relevant Turkish mission. A shorter preparation period may work, but it leaves less room for document corrections and appointment availability.

In this guide

Twelve to fifteen months out — decide and shortlist

If you intend to use the degree abroad, investigate recognition before paying application or enrolment costs. Then narrow by programme, teaching language, campus and total budget. Keep a manageable shortlist that you can research properly; the useful number depends on eligibility, application fees and your alternatives.

Nine to twelve months out — exams and language

List the examinations your chosen programmes actually accept. Schedule any missing entrance or language test so that results and official score reports arrive before the relevant deadline. Check validity at the date the university uses; an early test is useful only if the result will still be accepted.

Six to nine months out — documents

Ask each receiving institution which originals, authentication and translations it requires. Establish the document sequence before paying: authentication of the original and certification of a translation are different tasks. Some work can run in parallel. Allow time to correct spelling, missing pages or an unacceptable certification.

Four to seven months out — applications

Build a table of each institution’s opening and closing dates, required documents, application fee and decision schedule. Parallel applications can preserve alternatives, but check their costs and any commitment you make. Follow each university’s own current page and record the date you checked it.

Three to five months out — offers and deposits

Read the offer conditions and refund policy before accepting or paying a deposit. Independently verify the beneficiary and payment method with the university using contact details you obtained from its official site. A logo or letterhead alone is not verification. Keep the offer, payment instructions and receipt together.

Two to four months out — visa

Check early whether your circumstances require a study visa and which Turkish mission handles your application. Follow that mission’s appointment and document rules; some systems require documents before a booking can be made. Do not assume an appointment or an acceptance letter guarantees a visa or a particular processing time.

The first month in Türkiye — registration and residence

Confirm whether registration is online, in person or by an authorised representative, and when original documents must be checked. Plan arrival around registration, orientation and accommodation access. Coordinate the student residence application with the university while your lawful stay remains valid; do not treat the first month as a universal deadline.

Frequently asked questions

Why are no exact dates given here?

Because they would be wrong before long. Application windows are set per university and per intake, and the central exam calendar itself moves between years. We publish the shape of the year and point you at the bodies that publish the dates — the university for its own deadlines and the official assessment centre for the exam cycle — so you check a current source rather than trusting a page that quietly aged.

Is it too late if I am starting six months out?

It may still be possible. Check the open application and registration windows, your accepted qualification and document readiness, and any visa process you need. Ask about permitted provisional documents or later submission dates rather than assuming equivalency must already be complete.

Can I start the visa process before I have an offer?

The student visa application itself requires an acceptance, so it cannot be completed earlier. What you can do in advance is assemble everything that does not depend on the offer — passport validity, financial documents, photographs, and checking what your specific consulate requires — so that the only missing item when the offer lands is the offer itself.
