Logistics and international trade

Uni Campus TürkiyeUpdated 2 min read

International trade and logistics overlap, but their courses and intended roles can differ. Start with the activities you want to understand—buying, transporting, storing, selling or analysing goods—and compare how each program teaches them.

In this guide

Use a trade route as a learning project

Choose a product and route to investigate, then map the transport stages, documents, costs and organisations involved using current official information. Ask whether the university offers relevant cases, visits, simulations or placements. A location on a trade route does not prove internship availability; request the department’s current arrangements and selection conditions.

Compare commercial and quantitative content

BİLGİ’s international trade program, for example, combines foundational business and economics with later international-business study and cases. For each program, check how much attention goes to supply chains, transport, inventory, documentation, finance, law and data. Ask to see practical assignments. Compare logistics with industrial engineering if optimisation and network modelling particularly interest you.

Build evidence for specific roles

Research roles such as purchasing support, shipment coordination, inventory analysis and international sales, then record their actual qualification, language and software requirements. Use coursework and approved placements to practise those tasks. Cross-cultural and language experience can be relevant when the role calls for it; it does not establish a shortage, salary premium or likely job offer.

Check the boundaries of the role

Learning customs procedure does not itself authorise professional representation. The Ministry’s reserved-role list includes assistant customs consultancy and specific transport and ship-agency duties. Check the exact position and applicable conditions rather than treating these restrictions as a ban on all logistics work. Separately confirm work authorisation, and learn when a business must consult a qualified legal or customs specialist.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a business degree or a technical one?

The balance depends on the program. Compare credits and assignments in business, economics, mathematics, transport, information systems and analytics rather than relying on the degree name.

Will I find work in this field in Türkiye?

Evaluate current vacancies against your experience and qualifications, then ask about language and work-authorisation requirements. A university can explain career support and placement procedures; a degree or internship does not guarantee an offer.
