A transfer can help you find a different program, location or study arrangement. First identify the application route for your admission category, then compare the academic and financial consequences before leaving your current institution.

Read the transfer route for your admission category
The applicable route can depend on how you entered higher education, your current institution and the receiving program. Read the receiving university’s current announcement for quotas, eligible semesters, grades, language requirements and documents. Selection within a quota and recognition of courses are separate decisions; meeting a minimum does not ensure an offer.
Credit recognition is the hidden cost
Ask how the receiving faculty assesses completed courses, grades and credits and when that decision becomes available. Request a preliminary assessment if offered, while noting that it may not be final. Map any remaining compulsory courses and prerequisites against the calendar to estimate the effect on duration and cost.
What international students must check separately
Confirm the residence-notification procedure with the relevant university units and migration authority before changing institution or city. Separately obtain the receiving university’s written tuition and scholarship terms; do not assume the current award transfers. Check withdrawal and refund conditions at your current university before committing.
Decide what problem you are solving
Name the problem you want to solve, then compare specific programs, support services, costs and travel arrangements. Discuss alternatives with an advisor before withdrawing. Application windows do not necessarily recur with the same quota or conditions, so check the current calendar before deciding to wait.

Can I transfer from a foundation university to a state university?

Will I lose a year?
