ACADEMIC LIFE
Your academic advisor and course registration
Course registration affects your academic progress. Check its dates, approvals and correction procedures at the start of each term.

How the cycle works
Use the academic calendar and student-system instructions to confirm course selection, any advisor approval and add/drop deadlines. Check the final registration status rather than assuming a saved selection is complete. Late registration or correction procedures, where available, have their own conditions.
Three checks before confirming
Confirm all required approvals, check prerequisite chains before dropping a course, and compare the timetable with travel between campuses and compulsory practical sessions. Ask an advisor about any clash or uncertainty before the deadline.
Use the advisor as more than a signature
Bring your completed courses, remaining requirements and plans for exchange or specialisation to an advising meeting. Ask which choices keep those plans possible and who can decide exceptions. Advisors can explain and refer matters, but cannot guarantee an exception to formal rules.
Read your own graduation requirements once
Keep a copy of the curriculum and mark completed compulsory courses, elective categories and other graduation requirements. Compare it with your student record regularly and ask about discrepancies. This can reveal missing requirements early; final graduation eligibility is determined by the university.
A FEW MORE ANSWERS
Frequently asked questions
What if my advisor does not respond before the deadline?
Follow the department’s escalation or alternative-approval procedure. Send a concise reminder with the deadline, contact the departmental office if needed and retain the correspondence. Ask for written instructions if registration remains unresolved.
Can I take a course from another department?
Check whether the curriculum permits it, whether places and prerequisites are available and which approval is required. Confirm which graduation requirement the course would satisfy before registering.
