GRADUATION
Going home with your diploma
Returning with a degree involves different processes depending on your destination and intended work or further study. Start the enquiries before departure and keep each authority’s instructions separate.

Recognition comes first
Ask the relevant recognition body, university or employer whether it needs a formal assessment and which documents it accepts. Recognition and equivalence terminology differs by country. Prepare the requested diploma, transcript and supporting material, including authentication only where required. Completion time depends on the receiving body and case; a prepared file does not establish a universal processing period.
Professional registration is separate and specific
For a regulated profession, academic recognition and permission to practise can be separate. Ask the destination’s professional regulator about registration, language, examinations, supervised practice and citizenship conditions for your exact qualification. Which professions are regulated, and how long assessment takes, varies by jurisdiction.
Explain your qualification clearly
An employer unfamiliar with your university may need context. Give the institution and program name, teaching language and relevant modules or projects. Mention accreditation only where it applies to your program and name the issuing body. Use the official grading scale; if an application asks for a conversion, follow its stated method and label the result. Describe placements concretely: where, how long and what you did.
What the years abroad are actually worth
Describe what you can demonstrate: language level, projects, teamwork, placements and experience adapting to another environment. Connect these examples to the requirements of each role. Do not assume studying in Türkiye automatically gives professional Turkish or an employment advantage; show the relevant evidence.
Keep the Türkiye connection usable
Keep student affairs’ contact details, your student number and secure copies of academic documents. Ask the bank about account eligibility, fees and contact details after you leave, then decide whether to retain or close the account. Stay in touch with academics who have agreed to provide references and keep a record of your projects and language practice.
